Barriers to risk-taking for nurses and midwives

In our webinar Braver Than Before: An Introduction to Smart Risk-Taking, we talk about smart risks, not in terms of the standard of care that nurses and midwives deliver, but in their relationships with others, both at work and at home. Examples of smart risks include setting stronger, healthier boundaries, asking for help, having a difficult conversation that may lead to conflict or simply saying “no” to something.

In our recent webinar An Introduction to Smart Risk Taking, for nurses and midwives across the UK, 70% of attendees said that it was a fear of how they might be judged by others that was the biggest barrier to them being braver and taking more risks.
